Caravan & Motorhome Solar Panels

With the use of caravan and motorhome solar panels you may never have to run a generator or plug-in power supply again. The ultimate freedom can be achieved by not having to rely on plug-in power and simply charging your leisure battery as you sit back and relax.

solar power panels fit very easily into our camping lives. Here the sun’s energy is converted into electricity in the panel. This can be stored in a leisure battery and released again when we turn on a small appliance or electrical item.

Solar Technology have designed a range of solar panels using the latest in cutting edge technology allowing you to capture the sun’s energy and convert this solar power it into electrical current to power a range of appliances.

The PV Logic panels use crystalline silicon technology which is more efficient than amorphous or thin film solutions, particularly in lower light conditions found in the UK. All our solar panels are accredited with the internationally recognised IEC 61215 certification.

Our range of panels extends from 5 through to 150 watts in power. Choosing the correct size of panel will depend on variables such as the power required by the appliances you require to power, length of use and hourly sunshine rates. All panels over 18 watts will require a voltage regulator.

Solar panels in the UK are marked with a power rating, this shows the energy that he panel can generate under standard test conditions (STC). This STC figure gives you a chance to compare different panels and their outputs, letting you use this as a guide when trying to find the perfect panel for your caravan or motorhome. On an average summer day in the UK, you could expect a 4W panel to generate about 24-28Wh per day, with a 100W one though you could expect up to 700Wh per day.

I you want to go camping on-site using all your appliances, a 45-50W panel should be able to handle your demands during sunny days. If you use your appliances heavily during the night this can result in your battery constantly dropping below 50% charge, this may decrease its lifespan. If this occurs, it might be an idea to increase your batteries capacity.

Although solar panels do involve some financial outlay, the savings they enable you to make mean this is well worthwhile. More freedom, cheaper pitches, considerable cheaper power and instantly boosted eco-credentials – what’s not to like about solar panels?
